Which Professions Are Disappearing from the Labor Market in Ukraine in 2025

Sectors Most Affected by Vacancy Reductions

The cleaning and domestic staff sector has been hit the hardest. This includes professions such as managers, hostel and hotel administrators, cleaners, household assistants, deep cleaning specialists, and sanitary workers. Over four years, the number of job postings in this category has decreased by 95%: from 3,797 in 2021 to just 198 in 2025.

A significant drop in demand is also observed in the hotel and restaurant business and tourism. In 2021, there were 3,265 vacancies, while in 2025, there are only 301, representing a decrease of nearly 91%. This sector includes professions such as pizza makers, hookah specialists, grill cooks, general laborers, loaders, and courier drivers.

Changes in Demand for Popular Professions

A sharp decline in vacancies has also been recorded among taxi drivers: from 2,772 in 2021, their number fell to 275 in 2025 (–90%). Managers in the hotel and restaurant business also experienced a reduction: from 149 to 16 vacancies (–89%).

In retail, the demand for supervisors has decreased from 32 to 8 vacancies (–75%), while in the food production sector, the number of postings for confectioners has dropped from 302 to 93 (–69%). For accountants, the number of offers has decreased by 62% over four years – from 1,083 to 415.

Logistics is also experiencing a decline: for long-haul truck drivers, the number of vacancies has decreased from 363 to 165 (–54%). Product experts have lost 53% of offers (from 68 to 32 vacancies), and sales managers have seen a 48% drop (from 2,465 to 1,271 vacancies).

Among skilled trades, welders have been the most affected: the number of vacancies for them has fallen by 47% – from 270 to 142. In business administration, the demand for secretaries has also decreased – from 64 to 38 vacancies (–41%).

“The reduction in the number of vacancies over the past four years indicates a redistribution of supply towards other areas. The decline in certain sectors may be related to process optimization, automation, and changes in business priorities,” the study states.

Analysts emphasize that the future dynamics of the labor market will depend on the overall economic situation in the country, companies’ readiness to increase staff, technological development, and other economic factors.
