Electricity production at the Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, and South Ukraine nuclear power plants in Ukraine has significantly stabilized following recent military attacks on the energy infrastructure. Almost all reactors at these nuclear power plants are now operating at maximum capacity, except for one that remains at a reduced load level. All high-voltage power lines that were damaged during the attacks have been restored.

IAEA to Conduct Expert Mission at Ukrainian Substations
After a series of attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is preparing an expert group to review key substations that are strategically important for maintaining nuclear safety. This mission will be the sixth of its kind and aims to assess the extent of recent damages and their potential impact on the operation of nuclear power plants.
Situation at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant: Regular Signs of Military Activity
At the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, IAEA staff on-site regularly observe signs of military activity near the plant. On some days, they hear explosions and gunfire about 20 times, and sometimes even more frequently, indicating a tense situation in the region.
Despite the regular sounds of military activity in the area, the IAEA team at the ZNPP continues to conduct rounds of the plant to monitor and assess nuclear safety.
In recent days, agency experts have inspected two turbine halls and radioactive waste storage facilities, as well as monitored the testing of the emergency diesel generator. Additionally, the international team discussed issues related to the provision of cooling water on-site, which remains one of the most critical and complex topics for the nuclear safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
