The Importance of Danube Ports for Exports

According to Deputy Minister of Development Andriy Kashuba, the Danube logistics route remains a key reserve for exporting Ukrainian products. Export flows are regularly redirected to these ports, indicating their strategic role in Ukraine’s economy. At the same time, increased attacks on the Danube ports and nearby cities have led to disruptions in the energy system and restrictions on the functioning of the port cluster.

International Cooperation and Infrastructure Support

The issues of resilience and security of the Danube ports were discussed by representatives from Ukraine, the European Commission, Romania, and Moldova. The meeting focused on strengthening regional partnerships and determining further steps to attract European funding necessary for the restoration and modernization of port infrastructure in the Danube region. This is expected to enhance the stability of logistics routes and ensure the continuity of exports.

“The Danube logistics route remains a critically important backup export route for Ukraine, which has already proven its strategic role. Major cargo owners are constantly considering scenarios for redirecting flows to the Danube ports, so it is essential to ensure their resilience, security, and stable operation even amidst ongoing shelling,” noted Andriy Kashuba.
