As a result of the explosion that occurred at the sorting terminal of the ‘Nova Poshta’ company in Kyiv, one of the employees of the enterprise was killed. Two other employees were injured and are under medical supervision. The incident took place in the morning of June 5 around 04:15 at one of the Kyiv sorting depots.

Circumstances of the explosion and actions of the employees
One of the terminal employees, Mykola, reported that the explosion occurred at the moment when employees were unloading packages on the conveyor. According to him, the force of the explosion was so great that it could be heard from a considerable distance, and he was approximately 30 meters from the epicenter of the event. Mykola noted that he initially thought of a possible drone attack due to the power of the explosion, after which a fire broke out instantly.
Employees tried to carry some of the shipments out of the danger zone, but due to the rapid spread of smoke and worsening conditions, they were forced to evacuate urgently.
Actions of emergency services and support for the families of the victims
After the incident, rescuers, medics, law enforcement, and other services quickly arrived at the scene. The fire was managed to be localized and completely extinguished. As reported by ‘Nova Poshta’, employee Ivan Zharyi was killed in the explosion. The company expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and stated its readiness to provide comprehensive support to the victims and their relatives, as well as taking on all costs related to the organization of the funeral.

During the investigative actions, the work of the postal facility has been temporarily suspended. Law enforcement and relevant services continue to establish the circumstances and causes of the explosion. The company’s management emphasized that it fully cooperates with the investigation and interacts with rescue and law enforcement agencies.
Due to the explosion at ‘Nova Poshta’ on June 5, employee Ivan Zharyi was killed.
