Ukraine Forecasts Price Increase for All Types of Bread in the Second Half of 2025

Українців чекає значне подорожчання хліба

In the second half of 2025, a significant increase in bread prices is expected in Ukraine, affecting all major varieties. According to representatives of the “ATB” retail chain, the price of rye bread may rise by approximately 15%, while the overall average increase for all types of bread will be around 5%.

Reasons for the Increase in Bread Prices in Ukraine

Suppliers and bread producers explain this price increase primarily due to a shortage of rye in Ukraine. Due to the lack of this raw material, producers are forced to use imported rye flour, the price of which has increased 2.5 times over the past year. This, in turn, leads to rising prices for rye and rye-wheat bread.

“Ukrainian rye has practically run out. A few bakeries are still operating on imported rye flour, and that’s it. The price of rye has increased 2.5 times in a year. Accordingly, the price of rye flour has also risen,” explains the director of the “Flour Millers of Ukraine” association, Rodion Rybychynskyi.

Prospects for Bread Prices Until the End of the Year

The press service of the “ATB” retail chain notes that by the end of 2025, the price increase will affect all types of bread. Suppliers are trying to avoid sharp price jumps for individual products, so they are calculating an average increase across the entire bread line. According to experts, the price increase may continue for at least another year, as the main reason—the shortage of raw materials—remains relevant.

Thus, Ukrainian consumers should be prepared for a gradual increase in bread prices, especially for rye and rye-wheat bread, due to limited rye supplies and rising flour costs.
