Today, international train No. 23 Kyiv – Chełm will be running with a significant delay, which may reach up to six hours. The reason for this is the nighttime attacks by Russia on the fleet of high-speed trains “Intercity+” and damage to the railway infrastructure, which has caused multi-hour delays in train movement.
This is reported by Finway
Damage and Organization of Movement in Emergency Conditions
As a result of a missile strike on the depot, one of the trains sustained significant damage. Railway workers were in shelters in advance and were not harmed. The company emphasizes that they are making every effort to ensure that as many trains as possible can resume their routes and provide passenger transport.
Due to the destruction of the railway hub infrastructure in Koziatyn, several trains are forced to operate on altered routes. In particular, the route between Kyiv and Lviv is temporarily organized through the stations of Korosten, Zvyagel, Shepetivka, Zdolbuniv, and Lviv.
“For passengers traveling to the stations of Khmelnytskyi and Vinnytsia on the sections of Shepetivka – Vinnytsia and Shepetivka – Khmelnytskyi, bus connections have been organized. For passengers traveling to/from Ternopil (trains No. 21 and No. 103), transfers have been organized at the Krasne station,” the agency noted.
Changes in Train Movement: Main Routes and Passenger Advice
Trains coming from the Zhmerinka direction to Kyiv that are currently on the section of Vinnytsia – Koziatyn are delayed by at least five hours. Among them:
- No. 106 Odesa – Kyiv,
- No. 74 Przemyśl – Kharkiv,
- No. 22/104 Lviv – Kharkiv / Kramatorsk.
Additionally, several “Intercity+” trains will depart from Kyiv with delays of up to two hours. This applies to the following routes:
- No. 743 Kyiv – Lviv,
- No. 732 Kyiv – Zaporizhzhia,
- No. 722 Kyiv – Kharkiv,
- No. 712 Kyiv – Kramatorsk.
For train No. 23 Kyiv – Chełm, the delay is approximately six hours due to the expected lateness of the return trip. Ukrzaliznytsia reported that they are working to reduce the delay time at the border and optimize border operations.
At the same time, the Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station is operating as usual and is dispatching trains that were delayed due to air alerts. Passengers who missed their trains can use other trains on this route with their tickets.
Updated changes have also affected the movement of suburban trains — towards Hrebinka and Yahotyn, they are running on altered routes, without stops at the stations of Pharmaceutical, Lisnytsvo, and Darnytsia depot. This applies to trains No. 6804 Kyiv – Hrebinka, No. 6806 Kyiv – Yahotyn, No. 6808 Kyiv-Volynskyi – Hrebinka. Some trains that have departures or arrivals through the Koziatyn-1 station are delayed by more than two hours; train No. 6206 Koziatyn-1 – Fastiv-1 has been temporarily canceled for the day.
There are also delays of 30 minutes for trains on the section of Bucha – Irpin – Bilychi. Ukrzaliznytsia reported that railway workers have already quickly restored the infrastructure of the hub in Koziatyn, so all trains heading to Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, and Odesa are moving through Koziatyn without detours around the previously damaged section.
