Tether

Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, has frozen 870,000 USDT on three addresses linked to cryptocurrency exchanges. Experts from the analytical platform MistTrack reported this, emphasizing that these wallets have specific connections to certain cryptocurrency services.

Details of the Asset Freezing

The first address, located on the TRON network, is associated with wallets that previously interacted with the cryptocurrency exchanges WhiteBIT and OKX. At the same time, WhiteBIT, in a comment to Incrypted, denied any connection of this address to its platform, noting that there was only one transaction from OKX to it.

Connection to Fraud

Another wallet operating on the Ethereum network has been linked to fraudulent schemes, including theft, phishing, and other methods of fraud such as pig butchering. The third address was associated with the exchange Gate.io, which also raised concerns among analysts.

It is worth noting that at the beginning of 2024, Tether had already frozen three addresses holding 49.2 million USDT and assisted the U.S. Department of Justice in tracking and blocking $6 million in crypto assets related to fraudulent schemes.
