Prices for Dairy Products in Ukraine Decrease Due to Low Demand and Increased Imports

The Ukrainian market is experiencing a decrease in prices for dairy products, which is attributed to weak domestic demand, an increase in cheese imports, and a halt in dairy product exports to European Union countries. Such trends are noted by analysts from the Milk Producers Association.

Details on Price Changes for Various Dairy Products

Throughout August 2025, the cost of dairy products in Ukraine decreased, but the dynamics varied depending on the type of packaging and fat content of the products. The biggest price drop was observed for Gouda cheese produced in Ukraine with a fat content of 45%. Its average price currently stands at 563.38 UAH per kilogram, which is 54.53 UAH less than in July of this year. However, compared to last year, this cheese has increased in price by 114.33 UAH, or 25%.

Ukrainian mozzarella with a fat content of 45% also saw a price decrease of 11.88 UAH or 2%, and its average cost is now 590.86 UAH per kilogram. Over the past year, the price of this type of cheese has risen by 142.48 UAH, which is equivalent to a 32% annual increase.

Among the dairy products that have become more affordable is pasteurized milk in film packaging with a fat content of up to 2.6%. In the last month, it has decreased in price by 2.59 UAH (5%) and now averages 45.46 UAH per kilogram. This is 7.69 UAH (20%) more expensive than in September of last year. Meanwhile, milk in plastic bottles has slightly increased in price by 22 kopecks.

Price Dynamics for Sour Cream and Yogurts

Sour cream with a fat content of 15% in cups has become cheaper by 5.54 UAH (2.9%) and now costs an average of 186.28 UAH per kilogram. However, compared to last year, the price of this product has risen by 42.08 UAH (29%). At the same time, sour cream of the same fat content in film packaging has increased in price by 1.25 UAH over the month.

Yogurt in cups with a fat content ranging from 1.6% to 2.8% has also decreased in price — the average cost has dropped by 2% (2.62 UAH) and currently stands at 158.06 UAH per kilogram. Over the year, the price of yogurt has increased by 24.64 UAH (18%).

Among the reasons for the price decrease, analysts cite low demand, increased cheese imports, and a halt in dairy product exports to European Union countries.
