Port Defense Effectiveness Has Increased

Oleksii Kuleba emphasized that the improvement in security is achieved not only by increasing the number of mobile units but also through enhanced coordination with military structures. Recently, there has been a significant increase in the effectiveness of repelling drone attacks — this indicator has risen by 25–35%. The minister stressed the importance of utilizing modern countermeasures, which significantly reduce risks for strategically important port infrastructure.

“We are strengthening protection: increasing the number of mobile fire groups, supplementing the crews of UAV interceptors, ramping up electronic warfare, and coordinating with the military. In percentage terms, the effectiveness of interceptions has already increased by 25–35%,” Kuleba noted.

Increase in Attack Intensity in 2026

According to the minister, in 2026, there is a noticeable increase in the number of attacks on the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk compared to the previous year. While there were about 150 attacks recorded throughout 2025, the current number has already exceeded 180. The enemy is employing massive strikes and increasing the number of unmanned aerial vehicles, attempting to damage critically important infrastructure.

Thanks to the measures taken and the active work of Ukrainian defenders, it is possible to enhance the level of security for the ports and ensure their resilience to new threats.
