The Poltava oil extraction plant, owned by the agricultural holding “Kernel,” has transitioned to using renewable energy sources, receiving certification from the international organization Bureau Veritas Group. The plant now fully meets its production needs with electricity generated from sunflower husk. This decision significantly reduces dependence on fossil fuels and decreases greenhouse gas emissions by more than 11,000 tons per year.

Ukraine’s First Food Factory in the Science Based Targets Initiative
The Poltava oil extraction plant has become a pioneer among Ukrainian food industry enterprises by joining the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). Thanks to its autonomous electricity production, the plant not only powers its own manufacturing processes but also feeds excess “green” energy into the Ukrainian energy system. The plant’s capacity allows it to process up to 430,000 tons of sunflower seeds annually.
Investments in Solar Energy in Zhytomyr Region
At the same time, the Cypriot company FTD Investments LTD plans to acquire stakes in the companies “Bolokhiv Solar Park-1” and “Bolokhiv Solar Park-2,” which own and operate solar power plants in the Zhytomyr region. The ultimate beneficiaries of FTD Investments LTD are Ukrainian entrepreneurs — co-founders of one of the largest electronics retailers in Ukraine, “Foxtrot.”
“The agricultural holding will fully supply the plant with renewable energy from sunflower husk, which will reduce dependence on fossil fuels and cut greenhouse gas emissions by more than 11,000 tons annually.”
