In Transcarpathia, there is an active formation of a new industrial region, as reported by Andriy Gerus, the head of the Energy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada. According to him, a significant number of new enterprises are opening in the region, and the capacity for electricity generation is rapidly increasing.

Development of Industry and Energy in Transcarpathia
The Transcarpathian region is witnessing dynamic construction of various types of generation facilities: solar power plants (SPPs), wind power plants (WPPs), as well as gas-powered electricity generation capacities. This is evidenced by the large number of technical conditions issued for connecting new facilities to the energy networks. At the same time, the development of industry in the region is following a modern model – instead of large Soviet-style enterprises, dozens of small productions are being established, providing flexibility and resilience to the region’s economy.
“Transcarpathia demonstrates very high dynamics. The only thing is that there won’t be such a giantism in the Soviet style, where three enterprises create an entire region or city, but now in Transcarpathia, dozens and dozens of small enterprises are opening. And in a few years, we will see a significant difference from what the region was like five years ago,” noted the head of the energy committee.
Losses in Agriculture and Government Support
Against the backdrop of economic transformations in the industry, Ukraine’s agricultural sector is also experiencing difficult times. As of the beginning of 2025, direct losses in agriculture due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and the temporary occupation of territories are estimated at $11.2 billion. The largest losses have been recorded in agricultural machinery: approximately 30,000 tractors, 2,500 combines, 11,000 seeders, and 8,700 plows have been lost.
To support farmers, the Ministry of Economy has approved the allocation of funds for the third time to compensate 25% of the cost (excluding VAT) of Ukrainian agricultural machinery and equipment. This decision is intended to facilitate the renewal of the technical fleet and enhance the efficiency of agricultural production in the face of wartime challenges.
