Carrot Prices Rise in Ukraine Due to High Demand

This week, Ukraine has recorded another increase in prices for quality carrots. According to analysts from the EastFruit project, the main reason for this phenomenon is the high activity of buyers amid limited supply.

Wholesale companies and retail chains are actively purchasing remaining stocks, while vegetable reserves in storage are quickly diminishing. In response to the increased demand, Ukrainian farmers have begun to raise their selling prices.

Currently, carrots are being sold at a price of 30-40 UAH/kg ($0.73-$0.97/kg), depending on quality and batch size. This is on average 21% more expensive than at the end of last week.

Seasonal Depletion of Stocks

Market specialists explain this trend by the prices resulting from the seasonal depletion of quality product stocks. Market participants also note that wholesalers are facing difficulties in sourcing carrots of adequate quality.

Comparison with Last Year

Interestingly, carrots in Ukraine today cost 4.5 times more than during the same period last year. This raises concerns among consumers and may affect the overall pricing policy in the vegetable market.
