Reasons for the Decline: On-Chain Analysis and Major Players
According to on-chain analysts, a key factor in the decline was a mass sell-off of tokens. Researcher Z Crypto reported that approximately $1.7 million in TWT was transferred from the Merkl contract to an unknown wallet. Subsequently, these assets were sent to Binance and sold.
“The Trust Wallet token’s drop is puzzling for most users. I conducted a simple on-chain analysis of the reasons for the decline and found that it all started about 10 hours ago when a transfer occurred from the Merkl contract to an anonymous wallet, and then to Binance for sale.”
As noted by Z Crypto, there are still about 48.5 million TWT in the Merkl contract, equivalent to over $18 million.
Trader Timmy Arno also reported a large sale of tokens: one of the major holders (whale) sold 4.2 million TWT that had been held for over three years. According to Arno, the token has already lost nearly 65% of its value from its peak of $1, raising concerns in the market and impacting investors’ positions. He highlighted several factors putting pressure on the price:
- the lack of official comments from the Trust Wallet team;
- uncertainty regarding the future development of the project’s ecosystem;
- an increase in the number of large token sales.
Community Reaction and Future Prospects
Members of the crypto community are awaiting an official response and clarification from the Trust Wallet team, which is currently refraining from comments. Timmy Arno also referenced the developer of Mon Wallet, who claims that the development strategy for TWT remains preliminary, and the silence of the new CEO may be related to legal nuances.
Crypto enthusiasts believe that the future of the token will significantly depend on the transparency of communication from the Trust Wallet team and subsequent actions regarding the project’s development.
