According to information provided by Bloomberg, cryptocurrency exchanges Binance and Kraken experienced attempts to steal user data, but these attempts were unsuccessful. In particular, Binance detected and halted an attempt to bribe one of its customer support employees, utilizing artificial intelligence technologies for this purpose.

Suspicions Regarding Attacks and Exchange Reactions

Furthermore, the publication noted that one of the major platforms, the name of which is not specified, repeatedly warned Coinbase about potential threats. Much of this warning allowed Binance and Kraken to avoid serious problems. However, both exchanges declined to comment on the situation.

Recall that Coinbase announced a data leak affecting its users on May 15, 2025. Preliminary estimates suggest that the incident impacted less than 1% of all customers on the platform, and full remediation will require between $180 million and $400 million. Although the exchange expressed willingness to compensate for the losses, it faced criticism for delaying the disclosure of incident details, and two class-action lawsuits were filed against it.

“Whether the same malicious actors were involved in both cases was not clarified by Bloomberg.”

These events highlight the importance of security in the crypto sphere and the ongoing threats that may arise for users and exchanges.
