Ukrspecsystems invests £200 million in a drone factory in the UK, while British investors consider purchasing Ukrainian UAV manufacturers

The Ukrainian drone manufacturer Ukrspecsystems has announced a major investment in the UK — the company plans to invest £200 million in the construction of a new drone manufacturing facility in Mildenhall. In addition to the industrial site covering 11,000 square meters, the project will also establish a testing and training center in Elmswell. Preliminary estimates suggest that this will create up to 500 new jobs. The launch of drone production is scheduled for early 2026. Ukrspecsystems, a company that already supplies modern drones for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, states its intention to further expand its operations in the UK over the next three years.

British investors’ interest in Ukrainian drone manufacturers

Alongside the expansion of the Ukrainian company in the British market, British investors are showing increased interest in Ukrainian UAV manufacturers. Eric Prince, the founder of the world’s largest private military company Blackwater, has entered the Ukrainian defense market and is currently considering the acquisition of companies specializing in drone production.

Why the drone sector attracts international investors

Experts note that drones have become a key factor in inflicting significant losses on Russian forces on the battlefield. This enhances the investment attractiveness of the sector for international defense corporations and investors. Eric Prince’s interest in Ukrainian UAVs is not coincidental — as early as 2020, he proposed a large-scale project to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky involving private forces to resolve the war in Donbas, but this initiative was never realized.
