In September, Ukrainian farmers significantly boosted wheat exports to Egypt. By the end of the month, Ukraine had delivered 700,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian market, which is several times higher than last year’s figure of 107,000 tons. Overall, in September, wheat exports from Ukraine totaled 1.8 million tons, while the total volume of agricultural products shipped abroad reached 2.9 million tons.

Main Destinations for Ukrainian Wheat Exports
In addition to Egypt, among the largest importers of Ukrainian wheat in September were Indonesia (417,000 tons, compared to 390,000 tons last year), Algeria (175,000 tons), Vietnam (126,000 tons), Yemen (117,000 tons), and Tunisia (101,000 tons). At the same time, Ukraine has completely lost the Thai market, with no shipments made this year compared to 277,000 tons during the same period last year.
Export Dynamics and Domestic Market Situation
Since the beginning of the current marketing season and as of October 8, Ukraine has exported 6.94 million tons of grains and legumes, of which 4.98 million tons were wheat. This is a 26.7% decrease compared to the same period last year.
“Currently, the domestic Ukrainian wheat market is beginning to experience a shortage, which is traditionally observed in October-November. Over the past week, prices have increased by $1-3 per ton. Food-grade wheat of classes 2-3 is trading in the range of $220-225 per ton. It is expected that by the end of October, food-grade wheat may return to the level of $230 per ton, and in January-February, the price may rise to $250-260 per ton.”
Thus, exporters are actively seeking new markets and increasing supplies, while the domestic market is responding with rising prices amid a reduction in wheat supply.
