Increased Quotas for Key Products
Under the updated conditions of the free trade area, the quota for exporting Ukrainian honey to the EU increases from 6,000 to 35,000 tons. The demand for this product among European consumers remains consistently high, and even the introduced import duty of 17% does not diminish the competitiveness of Ukrainian honey in the EU market, as the selling price fully compensates for the tax expenses.
Supplies of eggs to EU countries are also expected to increase significantly: the quota rises from 6,000 to 18,000 tons. This opens new opportunities for Ukrainian producers in the poultry industry and will contribute to an increase in foreign currency earnings.
New Conditions for Wheat, Flour, and Sugar
For wheat, the duty-free export limit is raised from 1 million to 1.3 million tons. At the same time, flour is being categorized separately for the first time, allowing Ukraine to export up to 30,000 tons of wheat flour without paying duties.
The quota for sugar increases from 20,000 to 100,000 tons. Additionally, derivative sugar products that were previously included in this category have been removed from the limit, allowing for a focus on exporting the primary product.
“The new trade rules between Ukraine and the EU will come into effect at the end of October.”
The updated trade conditions create additional opportunities for Ukrainian farmers and will promote the expansion of cooperation with European partners.
