Support for reforms and legislation
According to Svyrydenko, achieving such financial support became possible due to the active work of Members of Parliament who supported the necessary legislative initiatives during the last parliamentary week. She emphasized that the parliament and government together determine the list of priority bills that need to be adopted in the near future to ensure further funding.
“Thanks to this, we are preparing to receive 2.7 billion euros in June under the (EU support program – ed.) Ukraine Facility.”
Additional funding and EU requirements
In addition to the Ukraine Facility, Ukraine has received approval from the European Union for a loan of 90 billion euros. The decision was made by the EU Council on April 23 after amendments were made to the EU’s multiannual budget. As Svyrydenko emphasized, these funds will primarily be directed towards defense needs, and to ensure funding for the social sector, the country must comply with the requirements of the IMF and fulfill the provisions of Ukraine’s Plan under the Ukraine Facility.
At the beginning of April, the Prime Minister reminded that for stable international support, particularly from the EU and IMF, Ukraine must continue reforms and fulfill its commitments.
The Cypriot presidency in the EU Council informed about the completion of written procedures regarding the allocation of the 90 billion euro loan, and the 20th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation was also approved.
