In Ukraine, a significant decrease in prices for white cabbage has been recorded, which is related to an oversupply of the product in the market. The cost of the vegetable is already on average 66% lower compared to the same period last year.

Main reasons for the price drop
This week, prices for white cabbage have started to decline again. The reason for this is the large quantity of produce that is not intended for long-term storage. According to analysts, purchase prices range from 5 to 10 UAH per kilogram ($0.12–$0.24 USD/kg). This is approximately 16% cheaper than at the end of the previous working week.
Market situation and retail chains
Experts note that most farms are still continuing to harvest, which leads to an increase in supply while demand remains consistently low. Wholesale companies and retail chains are purchasing cabbage in small batches, as the vegetable is currently not of high quality.
“As of today, prices for white cabbage in Ukraine are already on average 66% lower than a year ago. At the same time, it is possible that the vegetable will continue to decrease in price, as farmers are still harvesting their crops.”
In grocery chains across Ukraine, the following prices have been set: in Varus, white cabbage is sold for 12.90 UAH per kilogram, in the ATB chain for 11.89 UAH/kg, and in Silpo stores, prices start from 16 UAH per kilogram.
