Ukraine to Attract 35 Million Euros from EIB to Support Business

Ukraine is receiving financial support from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on May 13, noting that the government has made a decision that will improve access to credit for entrepreneurs.

According to Shmyhal, up to 20 million euros of the received funds will be directed towards supporting medium- and long-term loans for Ukrainian businesses through the state-owned “PrivatBank.”

“Up to 20 million euros that we will receive from the European Investment Bank will be directed to support medium- and long-term loans for Ukrainian businesses through the state-owned ‘PrivatBank,'” he stated.

Additionally, another 15 million euros will be attracted from the EIB for lending to small and medium-sized enterprises through the state-owned “Ukreximbank.” Shmyhal emphasized that this financial package will help Ukrainian entrepreneurs obtain “resources for development, investment, and growth.”

It is worth noting that in April, the Prime Minister also announced the provision of 300 million euros to Ukraine from the European Investment Bank for the restoration of the energy sector and critical infrastructure.
