Ukrainian Bioethanol Producers Will Meet Gas Station Demand by Year-End

Українські виробники здатні покрити попит АЗС у біоетанолі, це підтримає аграріїв.

From May 1, 2025, Ukraine will implement a mandatory addition of 5% biofuel to gasoline. Despite the fact that gas station networks are currently importing ready-made blends, Ukrainian producers have the potential to fully meet the demand for bioethanol by the end of the year, assured Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotsky.

This is reported by Finway

Vysotsky noted that the main crop for bioethanol production is corn, the acreage of which in Ukraine will significantly increase this year. Currently, at least ten plants are operating in the production of bioethanol, and additional production capacities are planned to be launched by the end of the year.

The Importance of Bioethanol for the Economy

Earlier, Minister of Agrarian Policy Vitaliy Koval emphasized:

“Every ton of bioethanol means three tons of corn that are taken off the export market and converted into added value within the country. It is important for us to build bioethanol plants and develop deep processing in Ukraine.”

The use of bioethanol, experts believe, should reduce harmful emissions, promote energy independence, decrease imports of petroleum products, and support Ukrainian farmers who can supply raw materials for its production.

Global Experience in Bioethanol Use

Gasoline with alcohol has been used for years in the USA, EU, Brazil, and many other countries, demonstrating its effectiveness and feasibility.
