In Ukraine, there has been a significant increase in honey prices over the past year. The main reason for the price hike is the difficult situation in the market caused by unfavorable weather conditions that negatively affected yields.

Honey Crop Issues in 2025
Suppliers note that this season has been one of the worst in many years. The first harvests, such as acacia honey, lime honey, and wildflower honey, turned out to be unproductive. A significant portion of beekeepers was unable to carry out the traditional honey extraction, leaving it for feeding the bees in winter. According to representatives of the retail chain “EKO-market,” only large apiaries, which maintain about 800 bee colonies, managed to obtain at least a minimal harvest. However, even in these cases, the amount of honey collected this year is ten times lower than in previous years.
Price Increases for Honey in Ukrainian Stores
The insufficient supply of honey on the market has led to a sharp rise in retail prices.
“Last year, acacia honey in retail cost about 450 UAH per liter, and now it is already 700. Prices for other types of honey have also increased,” added representatives from “EKO-market.”
Thus, by the end of July 2025, the lowest price for honey in a 250 g jar in the ATB chain was 61.90 UAH. In the “Silpo” chain, prices started from 34.40 UAH for 100 g, while in Varus – from 36.60 UAH for a 125-gram jar. As a result, consumers are forced to pay more for almost all types of honey.
Experts believe that the market situation will remain tense until the end of the year, and recovery in yields is only possible if weather conditions improve in the upcoming seasons.
