Next week is expected to be one of the most challenging for Ukraine’s energy sector due to a sharp drop in temperature. The severe frosts predicted by meteorologists may significantly increase the load on the country’s energy system.

Warnings from Energy Experts about Frosty Weather

Serhiy Nahornyak, a member of the parliamentary energy committee, emphasized that the increase in electricity consumption during severe frosts could pose a serious challenge to the stable operation of the energy grid. According to the politician, the weather conditions will remain predictable in the coming days, but the situation will sharply worsen at the beginning of next week.

“By the end of this week, the weather is relatively predictable, but I think next week will be one of the most difficult for Ukrainian energy, as consumption will rise,” said the politician.

Risks of Attacks from Russia

Serhiy Nahornyak also noted that the worsening situation could be exploited by Russia to carry out strikes on Ukraine’s energy sector. This creates additional threats to stable electricity supply amid increased load on the networks.

In light of the challenging situation, the energy committee representative urged Ukrainians to remain calm and patient, as further weather conditions may affect the operation of the energy infrastructure.
