From January to March 2025, taxpayers paid 2.56 billion UAH in real estate tax, excluding land, for the “excess” square meters of their properties. This information was released by the State Tax Service.

Compared to the same period last year, tax payments increased by 17.7%, which amounts to nearly 0.4 billion UAH. In the first quarter of 2024, local budgets received 2.17 billion UAH.
Top Regions by Tax Payment
The largest taxpayers of real estate tax were:
- Kyiv — 515.6 million UAH;
- Kyiv Region — 261.4 million UAH;
- Lviv Region — 252.1 million UAH;
- Odesa Region — 243 million UAH.
Who is Required to Pay the Tax
The tax service reminds that individuals are required to pay real estate tax if they own apartments larger than 60 sq. m, houses larger than 120 sq. m, as well as other types of housing, including their shares, larger than 180 sq. m.
In 2025, the tax is paid by citizens for the reporting year of 2024. In case of discrepancies regarding the assessed tax amount, citizens can contact the Taxpayer Service Centers for reconciliation.
