Details of the suspicion and established facts

According to Ukrainian law enforcement, Yuriy Trutnev provided ideological support, funding, and logistical support for Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. The investigation has established that the official, who had previously been sanctioned, personally visited frontline areas where he supplied the occupying forces with weapons, ammunition, and equipment.

One of the recorded episodes concerns his trip to the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region in 2025, during which nearly 400 units of sniper complexes and drones were handed over to the Russian military. Additionally, Trutnev provided the command of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation with electronic warfare means.

Information support and further actions

Each of Trutnev’s trips was accompanied by a large-scale information campaign from Kremlin media. In his speeches to Putin’s media pool, he repeatedly openly expressed support for Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and attempted to justify the war crimes of the occupiers.

“Each such trip by a Russian official is accompanied by extensive information support from Kremlin propagandists. During the preparation of the relevant stories, the subject repeatedly stated to Putin’s media pool cameras his support for Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and justified the war crimes of the Rashists,” the SBU states.

The investigative authorities have in absentia handed Trutnev a suspicion of aiding the conduct of an aggressive war. Measures are currently being taken to place him on the international wanted list. In the event of a conviction, he may face life imprisonment. Trutnev’s press service on his Telegram channel has repeatedly reported on his presence in occupied Donetsk, however, Trutnev himself has not publicly commented on the suspicion announcement.
