On the night of January 1, the Russian Federation carried out yet another kamikaze drone attack on Ukraine’s port infrastructure. As a result of the airstrike, damage was recorded at several ports in the Odesa region.

Port infrastructure affected by the attack
Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba reported that during the night attack, facilities in the ports of Izmail and Odesa were hit. According to him, the Izmail port suffered damage to its docks and equipment, while in Odesa, port equipment, vehicles, and certain infrastructure objects were affected by debris from the drones and the shockwave.
“Fortunately, there were no casualties. In the Izmail port, there is damage to the docks and equipment. In the Odesa port, port equipment, vehicles, and certain infrastructure objects were also affected by debris from enemy drones and the shockwave,” Kuleba said.
Damage assessment and aftermath recovery
Emergency services and rescuers are working on-site. Efforts are underway to address the aftermath of the attack and assess the extent of the damage. Representatives of relevant agencies have already begun work to restore the damaged sections of the port infrastructure.
