In Ukraine, prices for greenhouse cucumbers have been rising for the third consecutive week: they are currently being sold in large batches at a price of 30–50 UAH/kg, which is approximately 15% higher than at the end of the last working week. This data is confirmed by market analysts in the vegetable sector.

Reasons for the Increase in Cucumber Prices
The main factors influencing the price increase are a significant reduction in the supply of greenhouse vegetables and consistently high demand. Over the past week, gloomy and cool weather has led to a decrease in the volume of greenhouse product supplies. At the same time, ground cucumbers are practically no longer entering the market, further limiting the overall supply.
“Supplies of greenhouse products have significantly decreased due to the gloomy and cool weather in Ukraine over the past week, and ground cucumbers are virtually no longer available for sale. Thus, the supply in the market is quite limited.”
Market Prospects and Prices in Supermarkets
Experts note that it is unlikely to compensate for the shortage of local products with imported cucumbers. Given the increased demand from wholesale companies and retail chains, further price increases for greenhouse cucumbers are expected in the near future.
Despite the significant price increase, greenhouse cucumbers are currently on average 24% cheaper than during the same period last year.
In various supermarkets in Ukraine, the price of cucumbers varies: at Novus, greenhouse cucumbers are offered at 39.99 UAH/kg, at Varus the price remains stable at 49.9 UAH/kg, while in the ATB chain, cucumbers can be purchased for 37.89 UAH/kg.
