Pensioners are required to report changes in their employment activity

In Ukraine, pensioners are required to inform the Pension Fund within 10 days after making changes to their employment activity. This applies to cases such as employment or termination of work. Failure to provide such notifications may result in overpayments, which will then be demanded back from the budget as a penalty.

The relevant requirement is established in part 2 of Article 16 of the Law of Ukraine “On Mandatory State Pension Insurance.” Failure to notify or timely notify about employment or registration of entrepreneurial activity may lead to illegal pension payments that must be returned to the authorities of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

Procedure for notifying the Pension Fund

Pensioners must notify the Pension Fund authorities about the date of employment, termination, or cessation of registration of entrepreneurial activity solely by submitting an application and documents that confirm the relevant information. These may include orders or directives regarding hiring or dismissal, entries in the employment record book, or civil law contracts.

For example, recently, a resident of the village of Teresva, Ivan B., who has difficulty moving, approached the citizen service department No. 7. The services at his place of residence were provided by the chief specialist of the Tyachiv service center, Marina Pidlisna.

Online application submission format

The application can also be submitted online through the web portal of electronic services of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (http://portal.pfu.gov.ua) or via the Unified State Web Portal of Electronic Services (Diia portal), using a qualified electronic signature.
