Details of the New Commemorative Coins

The first coin, with a denomination of 2 hryvnias, is titled “130 Years Since the Birth of Vasyl Vyshyvanyi.” It is dedicated to the prominent figure — Colonel of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen Legion and the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, Vasyl Vyshyvanyi, and will be part of the series “Outstanding Personalities of Ukraine.” The coin will be made of nickel silver — an alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc, with a diameter of 31 mm. The total mintage of the coin will be up to 50,000 pieces.

The second coin, with a denomination of 5 hryvnias, is named “Opishnya Ceramics.” It is dedicated to the traditional pottery of the village of Opishnya in Poltava Oblast and will be included in the series “Ukrainian Heritage.” Nickel silver will also be used for its production, and the mintage will be limited to 75,000 pieces.

Set of Silver Coins “State Symbols of Ukraine”

A separate set of three silver coins titled “State Symbols of Ukraine” will be presented, which will be part of the series “Ukrainian State.” Each coin is made of 925 silver, with a total weight of the precious metal in pure form being 31.1 grams. The mintage of this set will be up to 10,000 pieces.

Commemorative coins are a unique form of money: they combine a payment function with cultural, historical, and collectible value.

For the production of such coins, both non-precious metals, such as copper-nickel alloys, and precious metals — silver and gold — are used. They always feature meticulously crafted designs, are issued in limited series, and are regarded not only as a means of payment but also as collectibles or long-term investments.
