Inflation and Its Impact on Business
The primary threat for nearly 40% of surveyed company owners has been inflation, which reduces consumers’ purchasing power and decreases business profitability. High rates of price growth are forcing entrepreneurs to seek ways to optimize costs and revise pricing strategies to remain competitive in the market.
Dishonest Clients and Social Upheaval
In second place among fears is the risk posed by dishonest clients. The study revealed that 36% of respondents expressed concerns about financial losses due to late payments or fraudulent actions by counterparties. For small and medium-sized businesses, this can lead to liquidity problems or even bankruptcy.
The third most significant challenge is social upheaval, particularly strikes and protests, which worry 21.4% of entrepreneurs. Such events can disrupt logistics, create supply chain interruptions, and threaten the stability of company operations.
Among other risks troubling business leaders are increased government regulation (18.2%), which can lead to additional costs and damage the company’s reputation. International conflicts also raise concerns for 14.5% of respondents, as any escalation in relations with countries outside the EU can affect contract fulfillment and increase operational costs.
“Only a small fraction of leaders see danger in the development of artificial intelligence (2.4%), cybercrime (2.8%), global conflicts (3.8%), or new pandemics (3.2%).”
Interestingly, only 2.2% of entrepreneurs stated that they do not feel any fears regarding the future development of their business.
