Development of Shipbuilding and New Projects
In the near future, Rheinmetall intends to acquire the Bremen-based company Naval Vessels Luerssen, which will allow the conglomerate to enter the shipbuilding market. Plans also include the establishment of modern command centers, the development of missile systems, launchers, and modeling systems.
“We want to create command centers, missile systems, launchers, and modeling systems,” said Papperger.
Strengthening European Defense Capability
One of the key areas of development is increasing the production of 155mm artillery shells to 3 million per year. This is expected to significantly enhance the readiness of European countries for potential military challenges. Additionally, Rheinmetall plans to sign a contract worth approximately 500 million euros for the supply of mobile anti-aircraft missile systems Skyranger to Ukraine, as well as continue cooperation with Lockheed Martin to expand missile production at its German plant. Specifically, this involves the manufacture of ATACMS and Hellfire missiles.
At the same time, the conglomerate is actively developing the production of land equipment and ammunition in Germany and Eastern European countries. Rheinmetall collaborates with the Italian company Leonardo SpA in the field of tank manufacturing and is also involved in the production of components for F-35 fighter jets.
