Support for Ukraine’s Energy Stability

During the international conference of the Ukraine Energy Coordination Group (UECG), also known as “Energy Ramstein,” the German ambassador to Ukraine, Heiko Toms, emphasized his country’s readiness to support Ukraine in the energy sector. He reported that the total amount of bilateral aid from Germany has already reached 1.2 billion euros. In particular, with 560 million euros, Germany remains the largest donor to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

“Germany will stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. This spring, we will deliver dozens of mobile cogeneration units and mobile boiler houses that will serve over 3 million people next winter”

Additional Funding and Security Agreements

In addition to energy assistance, Germany announced an additional 230 million euros in civil support, which also includes measures to strengthen Ukraine’s energy system. During recent intergovernmental consultations in Berlin, new security agreements were reached: in the coming years, Germany will provide Ukraine with hundreds of missiles for the Patriot systems and additional IRIS-T launchers.

At the same time, Ambassador Toms emphasized that the support provided is still insufficient for the complete stabilization of the energy sector and urged international partners to intensify their efforts to assist Ukraine: he stressed the need to seek new opportunities for support and to expand assistance.

It is worth noting that during the last heating season, energy workers from “DTEK Energy” launched thermal power plants from scratch 17 times after attacks from the enemy, restoring critical energy supply for the population.
