Food Prices in Ukraine Increased: State Statistics Data for February 2025

Wholesale prices for industrial products in Ukraine rose by 37.0% in February 2025 compared to February of the previous year. Overall, prices within the country increased by 40.0%, while export prices rose by 15.9%, as confirmed by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

The production of food products, beverages, and tobacco products saw a price increase of 20.2%, with prices rising by 18.0% within Ukraine and by 29.1% for exports.

Largest Price Increase in Dairy Production

Experts note that the highest price increase occurred in dairy production, which rose by 21.2%, including a 21.4% increase within the country. The production of bread, bakery, and flour products noted a price increase of 15.8%, specifically 16.4% in Ukraine. Prices in the meat segment increased by 10.2%, including a 12.0% rise within Ukraine. Beverage producers raised prices by 8.5%, with an 8.6% increase domestically.

In contrast, sugar prices decreased by 1.5% over the year, although there is a slight increase of 0.4% within the country.

Factors Contributing to Price Increases

Wholesale producer prices typically reflect retail prices in stores with a delay of several months. According to the State Statistics Service, the cost of food products continues to rise in March 2025, linked to changes in demand and supply, as well as seasonal factors affecting the market. The main reasons for the price increase are seasonal factors and changes in temperature and climatic conditions. However, with the arrival of warmer weather, around the end of April, an increase in milk yields is expected, which should positively impact the price situation in the market.
