Ukraine has increased its electricity import volumes amid ongoing repair work at its nuclear power plants. As of March 2026, the total import from Moldova and European Union countries reached 35,000 MWh.

Trends in Electricity Import Changes
From March 4 to 6, the average daily volume of electricity imports from abroad decreased to 27,000 MWh. However, by March 7, this figure rose to 32,500 MWh, and after the launch of the repair campaign at the nuclear power plants, imports reached 35,000 MWh.
Reasons for the Increase in Imports
Experts note that the increase in electricity imports is directly related to the planned shutdown of one of the energy blocks of Ukrainian nuclear power plants for repair work.
