Slovakia announced the termination of the electricity supply contract

On March 4, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine commented on the information regarding Slovakia’s intention to terminate the emergency electricity supply contract. The ministry emphasized that the Slovak government, led by Robert Fico, is depriving its own companies of income with this decision, as Ukraine will be able to obtain the necessary electricity from alternative sources.

The government of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico “will simply deprive Slovak companies of earnings, while Ukraine will receive this electricity from other sources.”

On the same day, the Slovak state company SEPS announced its intention to cancel the contract with the Ukrainian operator “Ukrenergo” regarding emergency electricity supplies. According to the publication Dennik N, the corresponding decision has already been approved by the Slovak government.
