Record Sales of Electric Vehicles

The number of purchased passenger electric cars in September reached a record high of 12,113 units. This is 5.9% more than in August and 89.2% more than in September of last year. Such a rapid increase in demand for electric vehicles has significantly changed the structure of new vehicle sales in the country.

“For the first time, fully electric models became the most popular in Ukraine, accounting for one-third of September’s new vehicle sales, compared to 15.3% last year.”

Vehicles with gasoline engines ranked second, with their share decreasing from 36.8% to 31.2% compared to the same period last year. Hybrid cars accounted for 20.3% of the market (down from 21.5% in September of last year), while the share of diesel passenger cars dropped from 26% to 15.3%.

Record Overall Market and Growth in Demand for Commercial Vehicles

The total volume of new passenger car sales in September exceeded 6,800 units — the highest figure in the past year, which is 1% more than in August and 20% more than in September 2024. However, since the beginning of 2025, 52,900 new passenger cars have been registered in Ukraine, which is slightly less (by 0.3%) than in the same period last year.

The segment of new trucks and specialized vehicles is also actively growing: in September, 1,113 new commercial trucks and special vehicles were sold, which is 4% more than in September 2024 and 19% more than in August of this year. Since the beginning of the year, the country’s vehicle fleet has added 8,650 units of trucks and specialized equipment, which is 7% less compared to last year.

There is also demand for used passenger cars imported from abroad: in September, Ukrainians registered 22,700 such vehicles. This is 1.9% less than in August but 40.2% more than in September 2024.
