Demand for Electric Cars from China in Ukraine Increased by 70% in a Year

In June 2025, Ukrainian car enthusiasts significantly ramped up their purchases of passenger cars from China, with a total of 1580 vehicles acquired. The overwhelming majority of these were electric cars, indicating a growing interest in eco-friendly solutions in the automotive market.

Record Growth in Demand for Chinese Electric Vehicles

According to analysts, compared to May of last year, the number of passenger cars purchased from China increased by 70%. This trend demonstrates a substantial rise in Ukrainians’ interest in modern vehicles, particularly electric cars.

“The vast majority of passenger cars from China are electric vehicles. Their share accounted for 85%.”

Of the 1580 imported cars, 1335 were brand new, while 245 were used. The share of electric vehicles among these cars was 85%, highlighting the trend towards a shift to environmentally friendly transportation.

Most Popular Models of New and Used Cars from China

Among the new passenger cars imported from China, the leaders were:

  • Volkswagen ID.UNYX — 254 units;
  • BYD Song Plus — 216 units;
  • Honda eNS1 — 188 units;
  • BYD Sea Lion 07 — 61 units;
  • Zeekr 7X — 55 units.

As for used cars from China, Ukrainians most frequently chose:

  • Zeekr 001 — 26 cars;
  • Buick Envision — 19 units;
  • Volkswagen ID.UNYX — 18 units;
  • Audi Q4 e-tron — 17 units;
  • MG ZS — 15 units.

The growth in sales of Chinese electric vehicles in Ukraine reflects changes in consumer preferences, with an increasing number of people opting for cutting-edge technologies and environmentally safe transportation.
