In Ukraine, social payments for children will remain unchanged in May 2025. This is due to the freezing of the minimum living wage, which also applies to children. Parents in Ukraine can expect the following amounts:
This is reported by Finway
- 2563 UAH – for children under 6 years old;
- 3196 UAH – for children aged 6 to 18 years;
- 3028 UAH – for children aged 18 to 23 years.
Payments Related to Pregnancy and Childbirth
The amount of assistance for women who are officially employed depends on their salary over the last 12 months before maternity leave. The maximum amount of assistance related to pregnancy and childbirth for working women will be 106,500 UAH per month, while the minimum will be 7100 UAH per month. Unemployed women receive 25% of the minimum living wage for a working individual, which in May 2025 will be 757 UAH.
Payments for Single Parents
Single parents can apply for state assistance online through the Diia portal. The amount of assistance is determined as the difference between 100% of the minimum living wage for a child of the appropriate age and the average monthly income of the family per person over the last 6 months. An important condition is the absence of a father’s name on the birth certificate or the presence of information provided by the mother. The appropriate note is made by the employees of the registry office or another authorized body.
In addition to the main financial assistance, single parents are entitled to additional social guarantees according to the legislation. According to the Tax Code of Ukraine, single parents are granted a tax social benefit, which amounts to 150% of the basic benefit for each minor child. Labor guarantees are also provided: when employed, a single father or mother cannot be subjected to a probationary period, and the employer cannot refuse to hire them due to their status as a single parent. If this occurs, the refusal can be challenged in court.
Single parents are entitled to additional paid leave, as well as unpaid leave lasting 14 calendar days. It is important to note that single parents raising a child under 14 years old or a child with a disability cannot be dismissed from work, except in cases of complete liquidation of the enterprise.
