Ukraine has seen a significant increase in cheese imports, primarily from European countries. In the first six months of 2025, the supply of hard and semi-hard cheeses rose by 15% compared to the same period last year. The import of white cheeses increased by 18%, while processed cheeses saw a 7% rise.

Main Trends in the Import Market
European producers are actively strengthening their presence in the Ukrainian market, creating serious competition for local cheesemakers. Despite a 16% decrease in cheese imports in June compared to May, the overall trend remains upward.
“The imported volume exceeds last year’s.”
At the same time, stagnation is observed in the domestic market. Among the main reasons are the high prices for cheese products and the seasonal decline in demand during the summer. However, Ukrainian producers are demonstrating better results in external markets: the export of semi-hard cheeses in the first half of 2025 increased by 16% compared to the same period in 2024.
