In Ukraine, there is an increase in carrot prices. Over the past week, the cost of quality carrots in wholesale markets has risen by 24%, attributed to seasonal factors. Currently, farmers in key regions are offering the vegetable at prices ranging from 8 to 15 hryvnias per kilogram (0.19–0.36 dollars per kg).

Reasons for the Increase in Carrot Prices
The main reason for the price increase, according to experts, is the reduction in product supply during the off-season. Most farmers have already completed the sale of medium-grade carrots, while the harvest of late varieties has not yet begun. This leads to a temporary market shortage, which in turn causes prices to rise.

Price Dynamics in Supermarkets
Despite the recent price increase, the price of quality carrots still remains 35% lower than in September of last year. Some producers are considering the possibility of further price hikes if the current sales pace continues.
In large retail chains, carrot prices also show discrepancies. For instance, in the “Silpo” chain, a kilogram of carrots costs from 10.50 UAH, in “ATB” — 9.89 UAH/kg, and in “Varus” — 9.90 UAH/kg.
Experts predict that the market situation may change with the arrival of the fresh harvest of late varieties; however, for now, the supply remains limited.
