Zelensky and Stubb Discuss the Fall of a Ukrainian Drone in Finland

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, discussing the security situation in Europe and the incident involving drones in Finland. Zelensky noted that the parties paid attention to negotiations in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region, as well as touched upon the topic of strategic agreements to enhance cooperation between the states.

Security Issues and the Drone Incident

During the conversation, the presidents exchanged information regarding the incident involving the fall of drones in the area of the Finnish city of Kouvola. Zelensky emphasized the need for close cooperation and joint actions in the field of security amid global destabilization. He also reported that new communication formats with leaders of other European countries are being prepared for prompt responses to similar situations.

“Alex and I see this situation in the same way. We are providing all necessary information.”

Official Information Regarding the Drone Falls

The Finnish Ministry of Defense previously stated that two drones of undetermined origin had fallen in the Kouvola area. Subsequently, the Finnish Air Force confirmed that one of the drones was a Ukrainian AN-196, which crashed north of the city. President Stubb emphasized that these events pose no military threat to Finland.

A spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Kyiv is in close contact with Helsinki to clarify the circumstances surrounding the entry of Ukrainian drones into Finnish territory, which is an ally of Ukraine.

It is also known that on the night of March 29, the Security Service of Ukraine carried out a repeated strike on the infrastructure of the oil terminal at the Russian port of Ust-Luga in the Gulf of Finland.
