Partner Support for Ukraine’s Energy Sector

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha published a detailed report on the results of diplomats’ efforts to attract aid for the energy system as of January 19. According to the minister, Italy began delivering industrial boilers to communities affected by the destruction of heating systems in January. In the first phase, Ukraine will receive 80 boilers with capacities ranging from 550 to 3000 kW.

Belgium has provided 22 mobile boiler houses and three generators, which have already been delivered to Kyiv, Odesa, and Fastiv. Their capacities are 200 kW and 40 kW. As part of the “Heat and Light for Ukraine” project, the Czech Republic has transferred 36 generators for Lviv, Ternopil, Kyiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Kherson. The charitable organizations Člověk v tísni and SOS Ukraine secured a grant of 850,000 euros to purchase additional energy equipment.

Assistance from European Countries and Financial Support

Romania provided the Sumy Regional Administration with a shipment worth about 20,000 euros, which includes 15 ECOFLOW battery stations and a diesel generator. Bulgaria delivered 17 generators of various capacities, Denmark provided industrial uninterruptible power supplies and a generator for one of the hospitals in Kyiv. Croatia delivered two generators for the Sumy region and is preparing two more for the Kyiv and Sumy regions.

The European Union has decided to transfer 445 generators from the rescEU reserves to Ukraine. Switzerland is working on delivering four emergency generators, while Moldova has already sent 14 generators to the Sumy region.

Individual states have directed financial support for the purchase of equipment for the Ukrainian energy sector. In particular, Norway allocated 200 million dollars, Germany and Austria 60 million euros, and the United Kingdom 20 million pounds.

Lithuania provided equipment for emergency repairs and local generation, while Poland supplied diesel generators for backup power to critical facilities and social services. Georgia transferred nine industrial generators to the Sumy region, with a total value of over 553,000 dollars, and Armenia is preparing to send ten mobile inverter-generators for educational and medical institutions in frontline regions.

Minister Sybiha emphasized that efforts to attract support are ongoing around the clock, with all Ukrainian embassies and consulates actively participating in this process, and the list of assistance is constantly being updated. He thanked all partners and donors for their support during this challenging winter period.
