In Ukraine, there is a decrease in potato prices, which is related to the start of the mass harvest. According to experts’ forecasts, by mid-October 2025, the price of this popular vegetable may reach 14-15 hryvnias per kilogram. However, after the harvest is completed, prices will begin to gradually rise.

The Impact of Logistics on Potato Pricing
A significant portion of the market price of potatoes is formed by logistics costs, particularly fuel, which remains expensive. According to Oleg Pendzin, director of the Economic Discussion Club, the price of potatoes directly depends on transportation costs. The expert emphasizes that purchasing vegetables directly from farmers allows for savings:
“A large component of the potato price is logistics, as petroleum products are expensive. If you want it cheaper, you need to travel through the villages and buy directly from the fields of the farmers; you can find prices around 12-13 hryvnias per kilogram. In stores, the price will be approximately twice as high. When mass harvesting begins, potatoes may cost 14-15 hryvnias per kilogram; it won’t be cheaper,” said the expert.
This situation is expected to persist until mid-October. After that, the price of potatoes will start to rise due to additional storage costs for the harvest.

Thus, potato prices vary significantly depending on the chain and region. The cheapest offer can be found at Metro and “Fora” at 13.90 UAH per kilogram, while the most expensive potatoes are at “Silpo,” where they are sold for 30 UAH/kg.
Experts recommend buying potatoes directly from producers, if possible, to save significantly.
