Vegetable, Fruit, and Berry Harvest in Ukraine to Decrease by 11% in 2025

In 2025, farmers in Ukraine expect to harvest a smaller yield of vegetables, fruits, and berries compared to the previous year. As noted by Stepan Chernyavskyi, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Land and Agricultural Policy, this year’s yield is expected to be approximately 11% lower than in 2024.

Climate Change and Its Impact on the Agricultural Sector

According to Chernyavskyi, drastic changes in weather conditions in 2025 have negatively affected the development of agricultural crops. Despite this, agricultural producers are gradually adapting to new climate challenges. They are implementing modern cultivation technologies and improving plant cultivation methods, which helps reduce risks and ensure production stability.

Harvest Forecast and Export Prospects

According to preliminary estimates, this year’s vegetable harvest in Ukraine will amount to about 7.3 million tons, fruit and berry crops will reach 1.8 million tons, and potatoes will be approximately 19.3 million tons. This is 11% less than in 2024.

“We expect the result to be slightly lower than last year, around 11% less. The preliminary forecast for vegetables is 7.3 million tons, for fruit and berry crops – 1.8 million tons, and for potatoes – about 19.3 million tons,” says the member of parliament.

At the same time, Chernyavskyi emphasized that there is no expected food shortage in Ukraine: entrepreneurs are not only supplying the domestic market but also engaging in processing and exporting part of the produced goods. According to him, the situation in the market is now significantly better than a few years ago when the agricultural sector faced much greater difficulties.
