Ukrzaliznytsia has announced the implementation of stricter document control during passenger boarding on trains. This decision was prompted by numerous complaints regarding insufficient verification of the names on tickets and the passports of travelers.
This is reported by Finway
“In recent days, we have received a number of complaints about inadequate document control by train crews — specifically, whether the name on the ticket matches that in the passenger’s passport,” the statement reads.
Implementation of Additional Control at Stations
From now on, selective groups of paramilitary security will operate at stations, conducting thorough checks of passengers’ documents before boarding. Train crews have received additional instructions for detailed comparison of data on tickets and passports to prevent the use of someone else’s tickets.
The company reminded that various tools to enhance control have been in place for over two years. In particular, verification through the “Diia” app is mandatory for purchasing tickets for popular international routes. This helps prevent individuals with tickets issued in someone else’s name from boarding trains. During this time, hundreds of passengers attempting to use someone else’s tickets have been denied boarding.
Combating Resellers and Supporting Priority Passenger Categories
Ukrzaliznytsia is collaborating with the OLX platform to block fraudsters attempting to resell tickets. Passengers are encouraged to report suspicious advertisements and cases of fraud.
The company continues to allocate separate tickets for military personnel, ensures priority transportation for children’s groups from frontline areas, and provides opportunities for travel for the wounded, internally displaced persons, and representatives of international diplomacy. During peak load seasons, this creates additional pressure on the rolling stock, which is why Ukrzaliznytsia regularly schedules additional trains, optimizes the use of carriages, and conducts a new phase in the fight against resellers.
