Ukrenergo Announces Return of Hourly Power Outages on April 3

Outage Schedules and Reasons for Restrictions

According to information from Ukrenergo, power limitation schedules will be in effect for industrial consumers in all regions of the country from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Hourly outages will be introduced for all categories of consumers, including households, from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

“From 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM, hourly outage schedules will be in effect (for all categories of consumers)”

The reason for the introduction of outages is the consequences of missile and drone attacks by Russia on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The operator emphasizes that the situation in the energy system remains dynamic, and therefore urges citizens and businesses to use electricity as sparingly as possible.

Current Situation in Energy and Prospects for Recovery

In recent days, hourly outages have not been applied; however, with the beginning of April, restrictions have again become necessary due to a power deficit. Since the start of the full-scale aggression, the Russian Federation has systematically targeted Ukraine’s energy facilities. The shelling has become particularly intense since the fall of 2025, leading to serious disruptions in electricity supply during the winter period and a gap between electricity production and consumption.

According to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, estimates from the World Bank suggest that Ukraine will need nearly $91 billion over the next ten years to restore its energy sector.

In response to the ongoing attacks, Ukraine has already submitted materials to the International Criminal Court regarding Russia’s strikes on energy infrastructure from July 2025 to February 2026.

At the same time, in early February 2026, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed that Russia had not targeted civilian objects, asserting that Ukraine had allegedly initiated attacks on its energy facilities first.
