In Ukraine, starting from 2026, childbirth payments will be increased to 50,000 hryvnias

The Verkhovna Rada has passed a law that provides for a significant increase in financial assistance for childbirth. Starting from January 1, 2026, parents of newborns will be able to receive a one-time payment of 50,000 hryvnias. This decision is part of a broader state program aimed at stimulating birth rates and supporting young families.

Key Innovations of Law No. 13532

294 members of parliament voted for bill No. 13532. The document provides comprehensive support for families at various stages: during pregnancy, after childbirth, and in the process of caring for the child. The payment of 50,000 hryvnias is a one-time benefit and will be provided regardless of the number of children in the family.

As noted by the initiators of the bill, it will create conditions for increasing the birth rate and provide support to families during the prenatal, postnatal, and childcare periods after the child’s birth.

The amount of the payment will be reviewed annually during the adoption of the State Budget law, allowing for the adjustment of the assistance amount according to the economic situation.

Additional Types of Assistance and Family Support

In addition to the main payment, the new law provides for the implementation of a number of additional programs. In particular, under the “eNursery” program, parents of children aged 1 to 3 years will receive a payment of 8,000 hryvnias to support the care of toddlers. For pregnant women who are officially unemployed, the state also provides additional assistance of 7,000 hryvnias.

Special attention is given to supporting first-graders. For the next academic year, a one-time payment of 5,000 hryvnias is planned for them, which can be used for purchasing school clothing, textbooks, and stationery.

The previous amount of assistance for childbirth was 41,280 hryvnias and was paid in installments monthly. Now, the one-time payment will allow families to manage their funds more flexibly immediately after the birth of the child.
