The volume of Ukraine’s maritime exports in April 2025 experienced a significant decline, decreasing by 45% compared to the same period last year, reaching 5.3 million tons. This was reported by the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine.
This is reported by Finway
In total, the country’s seaports processed 6 million tons of cargo. The largest volumes were recorded at the Yuzhny port – 2.4 million tons, followed by Chornomorsk with 1.8 million tons and the Port of Odesa, which handled 1 million tons. The ports of the Danube region, including Izmail, Reni, and Ust-Dunaisk, together processed about 800,000 tons of cargo.
Structure of Cargo Transportation
The largest share of the total transshipment volume in April consisted of grain cargoes, which reached 3.1 million tons, as well as ore – 1 million tons. It is important to note that out of all export cargo transported via the maritime corridor, 2.9 million tons were agricultural products.
Factors Contributing to Export Decline
As noted by the AMPU, Ukrainian seaports continue to demonstrate operational resilience even in the face of high risks. However, the decrease in transshipment volumes is linked to a reduction in sown areas due to the full-scale war, landmining, and the temporary occupation of some regions, as well as a decline in industrial production, particularly in metallurgy.
