Ukrainian interceptor drones have gained the ability to strike targets thousands of kilometers away

Ukrainian manufacturers have introduced a new level of “small” air defense that allows for the control of interceptor drones at distances of up to a thousand kilometers. This was announced by Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, emphasizing significant progress in the development of remote control technologies for drones.

Innovative breakthrough in air defense

According to the minister, a year ago, the implementation and testing of remote control systems for interceptor drones began thanks to the Brave1 platform. This technology allows operators to control unmanned aerial vehicles from safe locations, such as Kyiv, Lviv, or even outside the country. This significantly reduces risks for military personnel and increases the effectiveness of combating aerial threats.

“Today we have confirmed results – targets have been struck at distances of hundreds and thousands of kilometers. Ukraine is the first in the world to systematically scale remote control of interceptor drones. This is an example of implementing defense innovations and forming a new standard for air defense.”

Scaling capabilities and ambitious goals

Currently, over 10 Ukrainian manufacturers have integrated advanced remote control systems into their complexes. As Mykhailo Fedorov noted, this solution allows Ukraine to enhance its defense capabilities without being tied to the front line. This enables rapid responses to threats and protects Ukrainian airspace at significant distances from the operators’ locations.

The minister also emphasized that expanding the range of drone control will contribute to achieving strategic defense goals: ensuring 100% detection and at least 95% neutralization of enemy aerial targets. Continuous development of innovative technologies is currently underway under the leadership of the President of Ukraine.

At the end of March, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on the active increase in the number of interceptor drone crews and the intensification of military personnel training. Since the beginning of spring, interceptor drones have already destroyed over 2,300 Russian aerial targets, indicating the effectiveness of the new system and its significance for Ukraine’s defense capability.
