The Ukrainian energy system is gradually restoring its operations, despite daily attacks by the Russian Federation on energy infrastructure facilities. According to the head of “Ukrenergo,” Vitaliy Zaichenko, the situation as of the morning of December 26 shows a positive trend regarding the stability of electricity supply.

Recovery After Attacks and the Role of Energy Workers
As Vitaliy Zaichenko explained, it is currently hard to recall a night when Russian occupiers did not carry out shelling of the country’s energy facilities. Recently, Russia has been using drones, artillery, and other means daily to target the Ukrainian energy system. However, despite the challenges, energy workers immediately begin repair work as soon as the situation allows it for safety reasons.
“Russians launch drones and use artillery and other means against the energy system every day. The situation is improving by morning,” said Zaichenko.
Light in Homes and Easing of Outages
The head of “Ukrenergo” noted that thanks to the diligent work of repair crews, distribution system operators, and generation restoration specialists, it has been possible to ensure real-time electricity supply to Ukrainians. During the Christmas holidays, outage schedules were softened, and in some regions, restrictions were not applied at all. This was achieved not by redirecting electricity, but through the coordinated efforts of energy sector specialists.
Thanks to the joint efforts of energy workers, facilities that were most affected by the recent massive missile attack were promptly restored, allowing Ukrainians to access electricity for most of the day.
